An overall master plan was developed in a complementary manner for both the Cathedral and Diocese Facilities, providing a spiritual landmark on a promontory overlooking the city of Denver and the Rockies.
The great dome of the cathedral serves the spiritual needs of the Greek Orthodox Diocese of Denver whose jurisdiction of 47 parishes spans 14 states from the western mountains to the central plains.
As part of the master plan, we transformed the austere interior of the 700 seat Cathedral into a Special Sacred Place. This project involved creation of an overall design uniting the Narthex, nave and support spaces with colors and textures befitting a Cathedral. New lighting schemes, new flooring, refinishing and repainting, opening up the Narthex, custom designed furnishings and doors, columns and a new icon screen revitalized the formerly drab interior, creating a serene and impressive atmosphere and a canvas for the truly excellent iconography.
