The recently completed CJK Design project Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Carmel, Indiana continues to receive acclaim for its design and construction. The latest accolade comes from the construction trade magazine “Midwest Construction” in its “Best of 2009 Awards” issue for December. The 600+ seat temple’s complex design and construction by Sheil Sexton received the “Best of 2009 Award of Merit” in the wide-ranging competition that drew 128 entries from across the region.
The temple is not just unique in the Midwest though. The Byzantine rooted design for Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church is the first Triad church constructed in the world. The Library of Congress registered plan is extremely functional and efficient. Even though the church is a large building, sight lines to the altar are the best, with no seat more than 75 feet from the Soleas. The centrally positioned 50-ton dome is one of the largest in the US. Congratulations to the entire team.
